Functional Pottery
With a Dose of Levity.

Two storylines sum up the spirit of Drippy Pots.

The first is one of control and variables simultaneously at play — a delicious, juicy drip of glaze against a simple, textured form. There’s a delicate dance to getting that tension just right — and when it happens, it’s pure excitement.

The second is simpler. It’s a belief that pottery can — and should — make people happy, even if it’s functional in nature. Especially if it’s functional in nature. That’s why Drippy Pots have a distinct dreaminess. With pastel candy-colored hues and luscious ice cream-like dribbles, they’re made to brighten up living spaces and lend a dose of nostalgia and playfulness to everyday rituals.

Meet the Maker:
Brian Giniewski

Drippy Pots is the work of Philadelphia-based ceramic artist Brian Giniewski. A former college ceramics and fine arts professor, Brian launched Drippy Pots in 2013 as part of an exploration of functional pottery — marrying his love for bright colors with a developing curiosity around glaze viscosity.

With no other purpose other than to document his new direction, Brian uploaded a single photo to his Tumblr account — and promptly forgot about it. Thousands of fans shared that photo across social media, and a few years later Brian left academia — and Drippy Pots became a full-time endeavor.
